We have a new paper published in Frontiers in Psychology! Sindhuja Sankaran and Maciek Sekerdej from our Centre together with Ulrich von Hecker from Cardiff University examined the effects of norm violation on status representation in the context of the Indian caste system. They found evidence for the ‘black sheep effect’ wherein high caste norm violators behaving immorally in a conflict situation were devalued in status by highly identified in-group members. That was however only the case for individuals with high caste identity. The article is available at this site. Enjoy your reading!
