Is it possible to decrease stereotyping tendency among older adults? New paper by Gabriela Czarnek, Małgorzata Kossowska, and Michael Richter aims at investigating this problem.

Authors of the paper showed that stereotyping tendency of older people might be mitigated under high self-involvement. In particular, older people under high self-involvement mobilized more effort, evidenced with decreased heart rate variability, in comparison to other conditions. This suggest that self-involvement decreases older adults’ stereotyping tendency, possibly through effort mobilization.
