On April 26th Gabriela and Paulina showed us a decent bit of their research on attitudes toward outgroups. The presentation was titled “Everybody Dislike Somebody (Sometimes): Value Violation as a Source of Prejudice Toward Groups with Opposing Values” and challenged the traditional view on the nature of prejudice as linked with conservative worldviews. According to their research both conservatives and liberals’ attitudes can get biased when confronted with opposite values. Value violation may be the key to understand prejudice.
