Social-psychological antecedents and consequences of (il)legitimacy in power relations

The appraisal of legitimacy within unequal social relations, that is, the belief that a given social arrangement, as a social hierarchy, is adequate, fair and appropriate, is the focus of this project.

In this research we aim to accomplish two important goals: a) we have the goal of examining the antecedents of legitimacy appraisals of power relations; and, b) we aim to investigate some social and psychological consequences that such appraisals have on both powerless and powerful individuals.
