Małgorzata Kossowska in an interview for the Polish Press Agency (PAP) explained how people of dogmatic religiosity behave when facing uncerianty. Relying on the recent EEG study conducted with collaborators (Paulina Szwed, Eligiusz Wronka, Gabriela Czarnek, and Mirosław Wyczesany), she explained that strong and rigid beliefs measured by Religious Fundamentalism Scale may function as a bufour for arousal in conflict situations. What’s important – as the mechanism is universal, beliefs may relate to other areas, such as social world or politics. Another thing to keep in mind is that – according to other studies – dogmatism is connected to higher vulnerability to worldview undermining and therefore may be linked to prejudice.
