A new paper coauthored by Theofilos Gkinopoulos in “Peace and Conflict: Journal of Peace Psychology”!

Theo was also a guest editor in the special issue called “Social Norms and Peace”.
To explore the multifaceted roles of social norms and peace in various sociopolitical and conflict contexts, this special issue presents a variety of research articles aimed at unraveling such a complex dynamic. It delves into the impact of social norms on policy-based support amid violent conflict, the mediating role of social alienation in linking unemployment to support for political violence, and compensatory reactions toward deviant ingroup members. It also examines efforts to promote intergroup contact among youth in post-accord societies, various framing effects on perceptions of former perpetrators, and the enduring stigma of survivors of war and rape. Finally, it addresses the role of ingroup norms in fostering interreligious peace, reducing prejudice toward immigrants, and cultivating inclusive classroom environments.
