On September 28th, Professor Małgorzata Kossowska, the head of our laboratory, delivered a lecture titled “Knowledge Resistance – Trust, Authorities, and Politics” during the inauguration of the new academic year at SWPS University. In her presentation, she discussed the influence of anti-scientific beliefs on our society and the role of fake news in politics. Professor Kossowska elucidated the psychological factors that underlie knowledge resistance, placing particular emphasis on the element of uncertainty. The audience also had the opportunity to gain insights into how anti-scientific beliefs and attitudes can be influenced by the deprivation of fundamental psychological motives. Finally, Professor Kossowska explored potential strategies and factors that can counteract knowledge resistance.
